ISD 728 School Board Recognizes Students Leaders at October Meeting

Students from Meadowvale and their families

At its regular Board Meeting in October, the ISD 728 School Board took time to honor and present certificates to leaders from around the District, continuing a time-honored tradition.

In October, honorees from Meadowvale, Twin Lakes and Lincoln Elementary schools took center stage. Here's a feature on each of the honorees submitted by their principals/teachers.

Meadowvale Elementary School

Students from Meadowvale and their families

Bennett Opdahl

Bennett is a natural leader who consistently sets a positive example for his classmates. He is always on task, focused on his assignments, and encourages others to stay on track as well.  He does the right thing and demonstrates personal integrity both with his teachers and with his classmates.  He makes good choices and consistently demonstrates a commitment to academics.  He is respectful and demonstrates kindness and focus as a role model for other students.  Teachers at Meadowvale enjoy having Bennett in their classes and know he will continue to make a positive impact in the future to those around him.

Ella Gates

Ella is a bright and motivated 5th-grade student who consistently leads by example in her classes.  She has a can-do attitude and works to help others in her class.   Ella always makes class fun, and enjoys engaging her teachers and fellow students during class discussions, and contributes positively to group work.  She is thoughtful and recognizes the feelings of those around her, from her teachers to her classmates.  Ella's positive attitude and commitment to learning make her a role model, and her classmates often look to her for guidance and inspiration.

Lincoln Elementary School

Students Leadership honorees from Lincoln

Drake Roehl

Drake is a fantastic leader in the classroom. Drake is often pushing himself to learn the most he can every day--it's very common for him to think about ways he can extend the practice to challenge himself to think on a deeper level. Drake is commonly raising his hand, leading the way for the class to fully participate. Drake is a solid friend to those around him. He's positive, helpful, and kind. Drake is a fantastic addition to Lincoln Elementary.  Way to go Drake, we are proud of you!

Zoe Klim

Zoe was new to Lincoln last year but she was a SPARK from Day One. Zoe’s hard work makes her successful in everything she tries. She always has a smile on her face and is such a positive influence to her peers. Her ambitiousness to want to learn everything she can get her hands on and do it well is noticeable everyday. Zoe has wonderful manners and is one of the most respectful students I have ever met. Lastly, Zoe is always willing to lend a helping hand to the staff and peers. The most common word her peers used to describe her is kind.  Way to go Zoe, we are proud of you!

Twin Lakes Elementary School

The Twin Lakes Corner Patrol students and families are honored

Lucy Ames, Aubrey Duffy, Dia Petersen, Rosalie (Rosie) Smith, Arya Penick and Emma Flynn

We selected our school corner patrol to receive this recognition for their leadership and responsibility.  The corner patrol is such a huge commitment.  They go out in all kinds of weather to help students safely cross roads for the whole school year.  They have to be good communicators, follow the guidelines of safety, and be responsible with time and accountability.  I’m proud of the safety patrol members because they act as role models and exhibit leadership and good citizenship for our students.
