Our Principal
Daniel Collins
Welcome to Twin Lakes Elementary! I'm Mr. Collins, the principal of the school. I've been with the Elk River School District for 29 years. Previously, I was the principal at Parker Elementary for 10 years and of Otsego Elementary for 4 years. I have a Master's Degree in curriculum and instruction, a Master's Degree in Administration and a sixth year certificate in administration from St. Cloud State University.
We do many fun things at Twin Lakes, some of which include a Fall Festival Parade, Veterans Day Celebration, "I Love to Read" month festivities, Otterfest (school carnival), Arts Night, Spring Splash and many more. We are the "Home of the Otters"!
Additionally, our school recently won the National Blue Ribbon School award for 2021, which recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Every year the U.S. Department of Education seeks out and celebrates great American schools, schools demonstrating that all students can achieve high levels. The National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging content. The National Blue Ribbon School flag gracing an entry or flying overhead is a widely recognized symbol of exemplary teaching and learning.
Furthermore, we were named a Minnesota School of Excellence in 2013-2014! This was only possible because of our great students, parents, staff, and community.
